There’s simply no better way to describe the vision and outreach of Santa Rosa County’s Capstone Academy, a United Cerebral Palsy of Northwest Florida Charter School.
Located at 5308 Stewart Street in Milton, Capstone Academy is uniquely fitted to the needs of those Santa Rosa County students who will benefit from its services such as speech, occupational, and physical therapies provided by its professional education staff.
Capstone’s educational services are also a major part of the equation when it comes to creating a community where every child can excel without limitations. As part of the school’s early intervention program, children are exposed to music, art, story-time, dramatic play, and free exploration, among others.
“Still yet, the school’s ABA program offers students and their families the opportunity to receive additional instruction beyond the school day,” Principal Byron K. Johnson said “and that reflects the values of our school community where a child can excel without limitations.”
The inclusive educational learning for all children, ages two and a half to six years old brings us to staffing. The principal said the ratio of students to teachers is somewhere between two and a half and to one.
School brochures point this out, and also comment on how proud staff and administration are of what they are doing.
“We have well-qualified speech, physical, and occupational therapists, and certified teachers,” according to the communication from the Academy. “Our staff demonstrates the professional, compassionate, individualized educational opportunities and attention that help children of all abilities learn and grow to their fullest.”

The United Cerebral Palsy of Northwest Florida also has a charter school in Escambia County located on Fairfield Drive. It also meets the same standards as Capstone Academy Milton campus.
A school with a small class size and afternoon care is most likely to be preferred by most parents. At Capstone Academy it’s standard fare. Other assets include tailor-made and individualized programs, on-site physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and voluntary Pre-Kindergarten.
Through the Early Learning Coalition of the State of Florida, Capstone Academy offers volunteer Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) to children who turn four years of age by September 1, of the current school year.

The Milton VPK runs concurrently with calendar of the Santa Rosa County School District, and it is held for three hours per day. The Pensacola V:PK class is held for three and a half hours per day, but it does not run concurrently with the Escambia County School District.
The time devoted to students is an inclusive after-school program for all school aged children and is offered during most school holidays.
