MILTON — The Milton Rotary Club recently heard from SRC Emergency Management Director Brad Baker. During the June 2 Day of Service, Baker said, volunteers will be working throughout the county to help out people with projects and to give back. Find out more information at www.santarosa.fl.gov.dayofservice.

Baker also spoke about hurricane season, how the emergency management department reacts and how they help during those times. He gave two important tips. One, the first 72 hours are on citizens so they should be prepared. Two, he said to run from water and hide from wind. Most deaths occur because of rising water and people not evacuating their homes.

The county will once again have pet-friendly shelters ready in case of a storm and they ask that people register pets ahead of time. The form to do so is available at their website www.santarosa.fl.gov/emergency/petshelter.

Baker also spoke about the SRC disaster guide available online at the emergency management website.
