The Milton High School Panthers left a wet football field with a win over W.S.NealHigh School Thursday night in the school’s opening game of the year. The final score was 14 to 7. Friday, the Panthers take on the Booker T. Washington Wildcats again at home.
The game Thursday opened with an early score by the Neal Eagles but after a heavy rain shower, the Panthers answered back with two touchdowns of their own and those would be the final scores in the game. Coach Chafan Marsh said his Quarterback Aubrey Williams had a good game as well as Runningback Shemar Henderson. Williams connected with Henderson the Panthers’ two touchdowns of the game. Marsh also said Receiver Marquise Mcroy grabbed a nice pass giving the Panthers good position before the half.
Marsh said his defense, “ran to the ball well.” Despite scoring early, the Panther defense held the Eagles to their single TD, not even allowing a field goal. He named Bryce Patterson and Luke Whitley among his standouts on the D.
Overall, Marsh said, “Thursday went good. The kids played hard. They were resilient. I’m very happy with their attitude and effort.” He added he’s keeping his players focused on Friday’s game against “a solid Washington team. We’re taking one thing at a time.”
