Girl Scouts donate food to church pantry

Girl Scout Troop 983 donate portion of sale of 3,300 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to First United Methodist Church's Food Pantry. [Special to the Press Gazette]

CRESTVIEW — Troop 983 consists of eight young girls that sold 3,300 boxes of Girl Scout cookies. The troop decided that they wanted to donate part of their proceeds from the sale to First United Methodist Church's Food Pantry.

Lynn Poole, Food Pantry Coordinator, was at the church to accept their generous donation.

Troop leaders Hope Williams and Brittany Bohannon took the group of girls to the store to do all the shopping. They purchased $482.48 in food for the church's food pantry.

"We are so grateful for their hard work and contribution to FUMC," pastoral assistant Angie Arnold wrote in a letter to the News Bulletin. "A big thank you goes to Elena McCollum, Brooke Williams, Jocelyn and Sydney Bohannon, Chloe Jernigan, Liliana Allen, Jessica Mayfield and Hailey Edwards."
