GTCC senior program expanding

Pickle Ball is a popular attraction for seniors at the Guy Thompson Community Center in Milton.

The Guy Thompson Community Center’s senior program is expanding activities. Being added to the current lineup will be movies, senior tennis, and a chair aerobics/yoga class.

Starting Sept. 29, every Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. active senior adults can enjoy a movie. The Tuesday matinee will feature a wide variety of movies, both current and classic choices. Popcorn and soda will be available for $2.

Beginning Oct. 2 the center will host an adult chair aerobics/yoga class every Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

This is an adaptive exercise class where all of the exercise will be done holding or sitting in a chair.

Chair aerobics/yoga is great for people with physical issues such as weight, illness, chronic pain, and limited flexibility or mobility. In the class the chair will become an extension of your body.

Yoga/aerobics will involve a combination of gentle movements, breathing, and mental focus to improve your nervous system, lungs, balance, and spinal health.

Classes will be $5 per session.

On Oct. 5 a senior tennis clinic will begin on Mondays at the O.K. Matthews Tennis Complex. The clinics will be taught by United States Tennis Association pro Rick Cuny. The cost for each session is $5.

The GuyThompsonCommunity Center offers a wide variety of activities for all ages.
