MILTON — Open Hearts ministry of First Presbyterian Church, Milton hosted its first-ever dance May 11 for adults with special needs. Guests and volunteers ate dinner together, danced and sang karaoke.

In the weeks leading up to the dance the members of Open Hearts took care of all the details involved in hosting a social event. From choosing the theme and the music to inviting the guests and decorating the hall, everything was a lesson in how everyone can be of service to others in some way.

Open Hearts is a ministry for adults with special needs which includes a Wednesday evening Bible study class and a Sunday school class. The Bible study meets on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. from September through May and includes Bible lessons, singing and crafts. The Sunday school class at 10:30 a.m. meets year-round.

Organizers plan to host more such events in the future.

First Presbyterian Church of Milton is located at 5203 Elmira Street in historic downtown Milton. Call 623-2510 or email preschurchofmilton@mediacombb.net for more information on Open Hearts or other church activities.
