Although Halloween officially falls on October 31, it did not keep area kids from trick or treating early on Thursday afternoon at the West Florida Railroad Museum in Milton during the first ever ‘Trick or Treat Trail,’ presented by RJ Events LLC.
Danielle Ryan of Pace was appreciative of the atmosphere the event provided.
“It’s nice when they have events during the day for kids,” Ryan said.
Ryan had her three young children in their Halloween costumes. However, they were not the only ones dressed up. Drama students of Milton High School, who welcomed attendees, were dressed as popular Disney characters, consisting of princes and princesses among others. In addition to being in charge of game booths, the MHS students welcomed the opportunity to meet and take pictures with children.
“They have been a great help here,” said Ryan Sanborn, one of the event organizers. In addition to assisting with RJ Events’ Haunted Woods Deadly Games, another Halloween-themed event aimed at a slightly older demographic, the students are volunteering to fundraise for an upcoming school trip to New York City.
Only the attendees were allowed to enter a best Halloween costume contest. Free passes to RJ Event’s upcoming Polar Express event, which will also take place at the railroad museum were on the line for the winner.
Sanborn was happy with the early turnout for the event and anticipates making the ‘trail’ the first of many to come on a annual basis.
