Holiday Closures

  • Libraries will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. 
  • In observance of Thanksgiving, libraries will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and will be closed Thursday – Saturday, Nov. 26– 28.  Libraries will resume normal business hours on Monday, Nov. 30.

Storytime

Storytime for 3 to 5 year olds who are able to attend without a caregiver will be held during the following times through Dec. 11:

• 11 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library

• 11 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library

• 11:15 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library

• 11:15 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library

• 11 a.m. on Fridays at the Pace Library

PLEASE NOTE:  Storytime will not be held on Nov. 11 due to Veterans Day closings. Storytime will also not be held during the week of Thanksgiving.

In consideration of all participants, programs will start promptly at the assigned times.

Genealogy Research Assistance – Milton Library

Mondays 9 a.m. – noon

On Mondays from 9 a.m. – noon, library volunteers are available at the Milton Library located at 5541 Alabama St., to provide general genealogy research guidance; one-on-one assistance in using online and print genealogy resources for family researchers; and assistance in filling out ancestral charts and family group records. Beginners and seasoned researchers are invited to use these services. To ensure a volunteer is available to assist you, please call before you visit.

Heritage Holiday Tree – Gulf Breeze Library

Help us decorate the ultimate Gulf Breeze Holiday Tree. Drop off an ornament that represents your family and life in Gulf Breeze. Are you a big fan of fishing? Create a fun fish ornament. Do you play soccer? A soccer ball ornament with your family name on it would be great! Be sure to paint your name and the year on the ornament and let’s see how many Gulf Breeze folks we can get up on our tree. Dec. 1 is the last day to donate an ornament. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Drive in Gulf Breeze.

 Hopeful Hearts – Navarre Library

Fridays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

A series of meetings for "Hopeful Hearts," a bereavement support group, will be held at the Navarre Library on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The weekly sessions will address grief support and offer assistance, love and listening ears to those grieving over the loss of a loved one. All materials will be provided; refreshments will be served; and no reservation is required. There is no charge to participate. The programs are held at the Navarre Library located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.

 Family Movie Favorites – Jay Library

 Nov. 3, 5 pm.

Based on the book “A Day with Wilbur Robinson” by William Joyce, this movie is the story of a boy with a lifelong wish to belong.  It shows what happens when he meets an incredible collection of characters who just might have the power to make his wildest fantasies come true. This program is free and open to the public. In consideration of all participants, programs will start promptly at the assigned times. The Jay Library is located at 5259 Booker Lane in Jay.

 Friends of the Navarre Library Book Sale – Nov. 5 – 7

The Friends of the Navarre Library will hold a book sale Thursday, Nov. 5 – Saturday Nov. 7. The hours are as follows:

·         Thursday, Nov. 5, 4 – 6 p.m. – Friends of the Navarre Library annual meeting, elections and preview sale for members. New members can join at the door and take advantage of the preview sale.

·         Friday, Nov. 6, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

·         Saturday, Nov. 7, 9  a.m. – 1 p.m.

A nice selection of books will be available for purchase.  Movie Matinee – Navarre Library

Nov. 10, 2 p.m.

This month’s movie matinee is a musical retelling of the rise and fall of England's mythical King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table, Queen Guinevere, and Lancelot. Don’t miss out on the romance and intrigue.  Programs are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. and are open to the public. There is no charge or prior registration required. Solutions for Your Life – Selecting and Planting Trees for Your Landscape – Gulf Breeze Library

 Nov. 20, 10 a.m.

The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services presents a monthly series on a variety of interesting topics with solutions for your life. This month's topic is “Selecting and Planting Trees for Your Landscape.” Properly planted and well maintained trees can add beauty, wind protection, shade, wildlife habitat, beauty, and other benefits to the landscape.  Learn best practices for landscaping with trees. This month's program is hosted by Mary Derrick, Residential Horticulture Agent/Master Gardner Coordinator, from the Santa Rosa County Extension Office and Ian Stone from the Florida Forest Service. Classical Guitar Gathering – Navarre Library

Nov. 21, 10 a.m. – noon

Enjoy the elegant art of classical guitar with Jimmy Chandler and his students at the Navarre Library on the third Saturday of the month through December. Mr. Chandler is a local resident and classical guitar instructor with over 30 years of experience. He will host a series of gatherings to form a community for classical guitar enthusiasts, promote appreciation of the classical guitar, and provide opportunities for guitarists of all levels to meet, play, and learn. Music from all periods of history and countries will be presented and guest lecturers and performers will be included. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.
