A Mexican restaurant reopened Nov. 14 after failing a random inspection and a follow-up inspection and being shut down temporarily by the state.
Margarita's Sports Bar and Grill, located at 5041 Dogwood Dr. in Milton, was closed Nov. 13 and part of Nov. 14 after two failed inspections.
According to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation report, the restaurant had a number of high priority violations last week including live, small flying insects in the kitchen and food preparation area, food not being stored at the proper temperature, live roaches in the kitchen area and roach excrement found inside an uncovered outlet next to the storage area.
As many as 24 live roaches were found in the kitchen area. One was found on the lid to a chips container, another on the floor under the steam well on the cook line and 18 were on the wall behind cooking equipment.
