This is Wallace in East Milton, responding to Chrys Holley’s letter to the editor titled, ‘Demolition of current courthouse is an idea.’ She asks this question of how much would it cost to demolish the current courthouse. HOK, the engineering and consulting firm doing the study for the new courthouse, has stated that it would cost $1 million dollars just to demolish the two lower wings of the current courthouse. Therefore, I believe demolishing the entire existing courthouse would be extremely cost prohibitive. You can find this information at SantaRosa.fl.gov/bocc/judicialcenter.cfm. In that information is the May 5, 2015 HOK presentation to the board of commissioners. This means to me that it would be more to demolish the existing courthouse then to purchase property. Thank you.

Yes, this in regards to the Mediacom. I would like to know from the public in the Santa Rosa County. What their service is like with Mediacom? And considering the fact that it is a franchise protected by the county, being the only service available to the county residents, are we getting what we are paying for when purchasing the product? Thank you.

This is Bruce and I am calling from Pace and I was reading in the paper about the courthouse and I am trying to sort all of this out to figure out what is going on here. We have been needing the courthouse for a long time now and everybody seems to know that. They are just trying to find a place to put it? What don’t make sense to me is why they would even consider building a courthouse in a flood zone. Also, another problem with the highway coming through and the congestion already down there. I was just wondering is this the same people that spent $4.5 million on a bridge that was new and they wanted to make look old? Maybe they are sitting around smoking something, but I can’t put that together. Spend $4.5 million for a decorating a bridge just to make it look old, so somebody needs to get these people and the historical society together to make all of the decisions. They are not looking after the people. That is why they won’t support a tax increase, because you are not making rational decisions.

This is Jim. To the gentleman that was complaining about the speed limit on Berryhill Street, if you think that is bad go down Long Street. It goes from 20 to 10, 10 mind you. 10 is slower than the school zones. Thank you for letting me speak out.

This is Mary, a concerned senior citizen. This ain’t about poverty to keep people from learning that is a lie. I was raised in the last part of the Depression. We were very poor. Everyone has the opportunity to learn, if they want to learn. It does not matter how rich or how poor they are. Some of our presidents were very poor, they are not like the one’s today who got so much money they don’t know what to do with it. Everyone is accountable for their actions. They are in poverty mostly because of their actions. They do not use their money wisely what they get. They do not honor the Lord with the tithes. They do not do these things that help themselves. They are very selfish with their money and a far as learning, learning is an individual desire. If you want to learn, you can learn. Being poor just does not have it. As far as the poverty line, I don’t know what it is, but I guess I have lived in it all of my life and I have known more now than then I was little. I am very thankful with what I have because my husband has worked for it and we have worked. My parents worked and they did not beg from the government and they did not complain. I am just so thankful that I was taught to be responsible for my actions. Thank you.
