LATEST UPDATE: Milton child critical after poisoning

Latest report from the SRSO:

2 individuals have been arrested and are facing multiple felony charges regarding the 2 poisoned Milton children.

  • Kyle Joseph Cooley W/M 27 yoa Fleetwood Drive, Milton, FL

Charges:

Child neglect with great bodily harm – Second Degree Felony

Manufacture of Meth while child present- First Degree Felony

Possession controlled substance w/o prescription – Third Degree Felony

Possession of drug equipment – First degree Misdemeanor

Possession of listed chemicals controlled sub.- Second Degree Felony

The two children had ingested a chemical which is consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine. A search warrant was executed at the residence and items were located indicating meth was being produced in the home.

The conditions of the children are not being released at this time. Both individuals are being held without a bond.

SRSO reports deputies noticed items around the home that indicated methamphetamine was being manufactured in the home where a 3-year-old child who was reported to have ingested an acid based product. The child was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola on Wednesday morning.

 Santa Rosa County Narcotics detectives were called, according to reports and subsequently wrote a search warrant for the premises. Upon serving the search warrant, several items were recovered that are used in the production of methamphetamine. The current condition of the child is not being released, and charges are pending.

Reports said the SRSO received information leading them to believe there is a second child which also ingested an acid type liquid. More details to follow. 

The call came in at 7:16 a.m. from the 7800 block of Fleetwood Drive in Milton, according to Santa Rosa County Public Information Officer Sarah Whitfield.
