
SRSO Public Information Officer Rich Aloy said Tyjuwan Jahdeil Valdes Jenkins, 17 was arrested in connection to a shooting Friday at 5:45 p.m. at the Tom Thumb located on Highway 87 and Lorado Street in Navarre. Reports said the victim was found with a gunshot wound in the lower leg and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Reports also said the victim described the shooter as a "black man with dreads." Reports said a meeting was set up with the purpose of selling marijuana between the victim and three others including the suspect. Jenkins was picked up at his home on Deer Lane. Marijuana was found in the residence.
Jenkins is currently in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice. He is being charged with the violation of the following Florida State Statutes:
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Third Degree Felony
- Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon – Second Degree Felony
- Possession of Marijuana over 20g – Third Degree Felony
