The Purple Tulip: A family business generous with style

Co-owner of the Purple Tulip, Katherine Dalgleish points out some of the adorable decorations for sale on this particular Christmas tree in the window of the shop across from Milton High School.

The family-owned friendly florist, The Purple Tulip, has taken on a reddish hue as Christmas nears. Located at 5418 Stewart St, across from Milton High School, the shop has an abundance of poinsettias in the showroom with a few trees displaying trendy and classic decorations available for purchase such as sparkly snowmen, snowflakes and stars, and large lettered ornaments saying “Merry Christmas.”

Katherine Dalgleish owns the store with her sister and parents. She said The Purple Tulip has unique Christmas items. “What sets us apart from hobby stores is our custom pieces.” These include wreaths and garlands as well as centerpieces.

In addition to the arrangements in which The Purple Tulip specializes, the showroom generally includes house plants, gift items, “really good chocolate from Texas,” and handmade lotion, Dalgleish said. “I’m excited about our terrariums,” she added. The Purple Tulip does also, occasionally, have purple tulips, she said.

The Purple Tulip’s card says “flowers for every generation.” Dalgleish said “We don’t have one set style. We’re pretty broad.” She added the store delivers within Santa Rosa and Escambia Counties and they love doing weddings and other special events. The florist is also looking to do more work for other local businesses. Dalgleish said any businesses looking to add some life should get in touch. The number is 983-3600.
