Structure fires reported in Gulf Breeze, Pace

Three candles have been extinguished on the 'Keep Your Holidays Bright' fire safety tree after three residential structures were reported in both Pace and Gulf Breeze

Two residential structure fires in Gulf Breeze and one in Pace were reported on Friday and Saturday, according to a press release from Santa Rosa County Public Information Office.

The first structure fire was reported on Friday morning in the 40 block of Highpoint Drive in Gulf Breeze, the second occurred on Friday night in the 5300 block of Pecos Pass in Gulf Breeze. No injuries were reported in either incident, but two adults have been displaced and the American Red Cross is assisting, according to the press release.

The third residential structure fire occurred on Saturday morning in the 5300 block of English Oak Drive in Pace with no injuries. While the Pace incident is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s office, the two Gulf Breeze incidents are suspected to be accidental, according to fire department officials.

The three structure fires led to the first three candles to be extinguished in the ‘Keep Your Holidays Bright’ fire safety tree campaign. Santa Rosa County emergency service agencies are collaborating throughout the month of December to promote fire safety during the holiday season.

“Firefighters hope to reduce the number of fires in Santa Rosa County by promoting simple, life-saving holiday safety tips throughout the month,” according to the press release. “In the first year nine candles were extinguished on the safety tree, three in the second year, six in the 2009 campaign, four in 2010, six in 2011,three in 2012, four in 2013 and five in 2014.”
