Cooking is believed to the cause of an apartment fire which sent one Navarre resident to the hospital with injuries, according to a press release from the Santa Rosa County public information office. The incident took place shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday at the Cayo Grande Apartments on Navarre Parkway.
One adult male was transported to a hospital with injuries associated with burns, according to a press release. Minimal damage to the apartment was reported, however officials reported significant water damage from the sprinkler system.
This incident led to the fourth candle to be extinguished on the ‘Keep Your Holidays Bright’ fire safety tree. The fire safety tree is an initiative Santa Rosa County emergency service agenciesto promote fire safety throughout the month of December.
