The Santa Rosa County Fair Association is seeking volunteers to assist with cleaning up the SRC fairgrounds following the debris left behind from stormy weather over the weekend.
“Mostly what we are having to clean up is debris from broken trees,” said Lisa Enfinger, the secretary for fair association. “We need a few more hands than we normally have.”
The work day will begin around 1 p.m. on Saturday at the fairgrounds just north of the park, Enfinger said. The Santa Rosa County fairgrounds are located in East Milton on Bobby Brown Road.
The storm also left behind some property damage to structures around the property, Enfinger said those damaged buildings are expected to be handled by the county’s park department.
Enfinger said there was no reported tornadoes in the area which caused such damage including heavy roof damage, overturned bleachers, damaged trees and a overturned mobile unit owned by the association. Enfinger said one fair association board member plans to bring a tractor in order to help bring the unit upright.
Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to bring yard tools with sturdy work gloves and dress accordingly. Enfinger added this cleanup work day is a great opportunity for residents needing to fulfill community service hours. For more information, contact Enfinger at (850) 623-1115.
