MPD seeks suspect in Dollar General robbery

The Milton Police Department is seeking the suspect responsible for an armed robbery which occurred on Saturday Night at a Dollar General location, according to a press release from the department.

The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. at the Dollar General, located at 6236 U.S. Highway 90 in Milton.

The suspect, described as a young male, entered the store wearing a bandana over his face with a gray hooded jacket  and gloves, according to the press release. While inside the store announcing the robbery, the suspect displayed a small handgun forcing the clerks to both open the cash register and store safe. According to the report, the suspect struck one of the clerks twice with the handgun.

Police were able to attain the suspect’s description as being 5’7” tall with a medium build. The suspect, which had reportedly taken more than $1,500 from the store, left the store in a black Cadillac with the lights off.

The suspect vehicle was then located by a deputy with Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office who attempted to stop the vehicle. According to the report, the suspect vehicle fled onto the Milton campus of Pensacola State College in which the suspect exited the vehicle on foot and was able to evade capture.

After investigators searched the area, some of the stolen amount of money was located along with a small handgun.

The police department will release more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, the department is asking anyone with information on this incident to call 983-5423.
