Jean Schuler is a contributing artist for the Dragonfly Gallery. Jean is proud of her New Orleans heritage. Her legacy shows in her original watercolors from beignets, Blue Plate mayo, Creole tomatoes and all things southern. Still excited about being a part of the GulfCoast region, Jean now resides in the Florida panhandle and embraces the beautiful landscape and small town life. A lifetime of sketching, photography and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from LouisianaStateUniversity provides for a strong background in her work. Having received her first art set of an easel, wooden case of oil paints and a handful of canvases at the age of eleven, one of her textbooks had nude pictures torn out because of her age. Being tagged a ‘glazer’ by professional artist Anne Abgott, Jean lays one transparent color on top of another to create brilliancy. She is a member of the Santa Rosa Art Association and Main StreetMilton and works at the Santa Rosa Press Gazette.
