Take time to support the arts in your community

Dear Editor,

The arts are alive and well in Santa RosaCounty. That was clearly apparent by the well-attended recent event on Saturday., Jan. 30 benefitting the Santa Rosa Arts and Culture Foundation.

The Garden to Gallery fundraiser, so graciously hosted by Milton's very own Coldwater Gardens, saw a full house at the main lodge of this amazing “glamping facility.”  Guests were treated to a delicious full course meal fresh from the garden itself. Additionally, local artists were on hand to display and promote their works.

A wide range of guests was represented and all were excited to be a part of such a classy, fun and meaningful event. The evening’s success was apparent by listening to the many positive comments as well as the many things going on country-wide relating to the arts.

It is with the vision of individuals such as these and host businesses throughout our community that we will continue our mission of promoting, educating, and vitalizing the many aspects of arts and culture to the benefit of our citizens, and as equally as important, the end results of arts which are directly related to strengthening and growing our local economy.

As president of the SRACF, I encourage everyone to imagine what life within our community might be without the arts. Visualize life in black and white. Dull. Lifeless. Even sad. Then, in your minds eye, imagine a world with the arts. Notice the contrast. With a little creativity, color and pizzazz experience things transitioning vividly into living color. Whether it is visual arts, dance, music, theatre or more, the arts are key to enriching our lives in so many ways.

Take the opportunity to enjoy and become an active part of what is offered through area arts festivals, events, theatrical and musical productions, art galleries and showings, classes, etc. Even better, contact your local government entities to strongly encourage their full support in such an important endeavor as this and, last but not least, become an individual arts supporter yourself.

For more information on Santa Rosa's official arts agency, the Santa Rosa Arts and Culture Foundation and everything art in our niche of the world, visit www.sracf.com. Thanks for your support.
