Bagdad Elementary teacher wins state award

Bagdad Elementary School’s Ronda Curtis was named overall Winner for Florida Excellence in Teaching/Agriculture in the classroom.. Curtis said the class created a beautiful "senses" garden at the school, using it as an outdoor classroom. “We are going on year 3 of collaborating with community members, local businesses, parents, military members, Florida Agriculture in the Classroom, and Santa Rosa County School District professionals to add a place of beauty and learning for the entire school,” said Curtis.

The students thrive through hands-on learning in our garden,” she said.

According to faitc.org, the 2016 Excellence in Teaching About Agriculture Awards  Winners win a trip to the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Litchfield, AZ.  Curtis will receive a $500 honorarium and the other winners will receive $250.
