PENSACOLA — Northwest Florida Poet Laureate Jamey Jones will talk about books that have influenced his life and poetry.
The event is 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 at Pensacola State College’s Edward M. Chadbourne Library, Building 20, on the Pensacola campus, 1000 College Blvd.
Jones plans to read selections from his own work and talk about where these poems originated. The presentation also includes an update on Jones’ activities as the area’s seventh poet laureate and a question-and-answer session.
“I am halfway through the three-year tenure, and this experience has been extremely rewarding,” Jones said.
Jones teaches English, literature and poetry at Pensacola State College. He earned degrees at PSC, the University of West Florida and Long Island University in New York.
His book, “Blue Rain Morning” — which he wrote during his years in New York — contains several poems that reflect his roots as a fifth-generation Pensacolian.
