Boater safety class set May 14

MILTON — U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 18, “The Guardians of the Blackwater,” will offer “About Boating Safely,” an eight-hour class on basic legal requirements for boaters, boating safety, elements of boat handling, and how to handle common boating emergencies.

The class begins 9 a.m. Saturday, May 14, in the Training Room of the Milton Fire Department, 5321 Stewart St. (Highway 87) in Milton. Class materials cost $35 per person, or family (up to four) sharing a book.

Contact Auxiliarist Jerry Damico, 791-1266, to register.

An examination at the end of the class and a passing score make the boater eligible for a State of Florida Boating ID card, a requirement for boaters born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 to operate a boat in state waters.
