“This is a place for people to go in the community; somewhere where people can go on their lunch break,” Dr. Maged Nashed, of the Renalus Center for Kidney Care, said.

The plaza houses a Domino’s Pizza, Maui Super Salon and Blackwater Trading Company.

Nashed plans to add benches with shade and a few picnic tables to the area. In the near future, Nashed envisions adding Wi-Fi and possibly a small waterwheel.

While the area is open to the public, Nashed particularly hopes the outdoor area will give area youths a place to hang out.

“We always think about what to do for the kids,” he said. “We just have to get ideas from people as we go.”
