MILTON — Twenty-two Santa Rosa County School District students enrolled in Career and Technical Education Programs at Locklin Technical Center competed in the April 24-27 State SkillsUSA competition.
These students are enrolled in technical programs such as Electricity/Electrician, Heating Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology, Commercial Foods and Culinary Arts, Pharmacy Technician, and Welding Technology.
During the event, competitions including comprehension-based exams, as well as hands-on skill assessments were held in Lakeland, Fla. Both high school and adult students throughout the state tested knowledge and skills learned from their respective program areas to qualify for the National SkillsUSA Competition to be held June 19-25 in Louisville, Ky.
These Locklin Tech students exhibited outstanding performance with six first-place awards, four second-place awards, and three third-place awards.

— HVACR/High School: Blake Moore, 1st Place, and Wyatt Albritton, 3rd Place
●Electricity/Electrician (Mike Adams, Instructor):
— Electrical Construction Wiring/High School: Jorden Morris, 3rd Place
— Industrial Motor Controls/High School: Kolton Caraway, 1st Place, Jason Bhumley, 2nd Place, and Anthony Gonzalez, 3rd Place
●Welding Technology (Erich Kirchharr, Instructor): Welding Fabrication Adult Team; Eric Ernest, John Sandidge and Nick Tschundy, 2nd Place
●Pharmacy Technician (Nicole Pritchett, Instructor): Health Knowledge Bowl Adult Team; Sierra Locke, Samantha Griffith and Mackinzie Martin, 1st Place
Those who placed first in their program area can compete in the National SkillsUSA Competition.
