Train collides with semi stuck on tracks in Defuniak Springs

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS – A train collided with a semi's trailer Wednesday morning at the intersection of Koerber Road and State Road 90 in Defuniak Springs. According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, the driver of the semi, Colin Murphy of Valdosta, Ga was crossing the railroad tracks traveling southbound on Koerber Rd, when the bottom of the trailer got stuck on the high side center of the railroad tracks. FHP said Murphy called 911 to report the railroad tracks were blocked and the train company CSX was notified. The train was traveling westbound and the conductor, Michael Blankship of Pensacola did not receive the notification of the blockage and was not able to stop in time, thus causing the train to collide with the center of the trailer. The semi was unoccupied at the time of the collision.
