MHS coaches test young talent during spring practice

Milton High School football coach Chafan Marsh watches as two players practice on the line of scrimmage Tuesday.

MILTON — Milton High School’s Panthers are working toward next football season.

Coming off a 6-4 regular-season record, the Panthers need to fill a void left by a large senior class graduating later this month.

MHS Head Coach Chafan Marsh said this year’s roster has more experience on offense than defense.

“We had eight seniors on defense, so we got a lot of guys looking to find that niche,” he said. “The guys are working hard, so it has been a very productive spring for us. We got a lot of young kids that are trying to learn how to play varsity football.

Summer training will begin early next month. For now, Marsh said he likes what he has witnessed from the football team so far.

“The whole atmosphere has been good; the attitude has been good,” Marsh said. “We got 85 to 90 kids out here just busting their tails; they are being good kids and doing what we are asking them to do.”
