MILTON — Kobi Floyd played wide receiver for the Milton High Panthers’ football team and right field for the baseball team all four years of high school.
His parents couldn’t be happier — especially since his signing with Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala., means all four of the Floyd children earned scholarships.
Kobi said Huntingdon pursued him heavily and gave him the option to start as a freshman, a rare opportunity, he said. He’ll be in the slot receiver position, he said.
While he’s undecided on his major, he said his ideal plans now are to coach football on the college level after his playing days wind down.
Other than getting early college playing experience, Kobi said he looks forward to getting out in the world on his own and growing up, but at the same time will miss all of his friends as they go their separate ways.
Reminiscing of his time at Milton High, Kobi said one of his favorite memories was when the team beat Pace High last October with a field goal kicked in the game’s last few seconds.
Kobi is the last of his family to go on to college. His eldest sister, Ashley, signed a softball scholarship with Troy University.
Jayci signed a track scholarship at Samford.
Matt signed a football scholarship at the University of South Florida.
Kobi’s father, David, said, “We’re excited. We’re four for four. The Lord blessed us with four good athletes.”
