Pace youth wins first place in Jacksonville golf tournament for her division

Elise Schultz, of Pace, took home the first-place trophy for the Girls 14-18 division during the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s First Coast Junior Open.

MILTON — A Pace teenager is among winners of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s First Coast Junior Open, held June 12 at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.

Elise Schultz, of Pace, took home the first-place trophy for the Girls 14-18 division.

She, along with the division’s other top winners, were awarded an exemption into the 2016 Tour Championship, set Dec. 3-4. The top ten finishers also received points toward year-end honors.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, founded in 2007, provides junior golfers between ages 11 and 18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment.

Golfers who participate on the tour compete in one of six age divisions:

●Boys 16-18

●Boys 14-15

●Boys 11-13

●Boys U10

●Girls 14-18

●Girls U13

The Jacksonville-based tour administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

This year, the organization expanded to the west coast and covers California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada and Oregon.
