Gulf Breeze teen seriously injured after hit-and-run

A Gulf Breeze resident is seriously injured after a Sunday afternoon hit-and-run in Santa Rosa County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Thomas Sutton, 17, of Gulf Breeze was driving a 2005 Kia Sedona, headed east on U.S. Highway 98 (State Road 30) around 2:51 p.m., when a maroon Chevrolet pickup traveling east on U.S. 98 directly hit the Kia from behind, according to an FHP media release.

The Kia lost control and rotated in a counterclockwise motion, then crossing through the median and overturning into the westbound lanes of U.S. 98, where it came to final rest.

The Chevrolet left the scene and was last seen heading west on U.S. 98 toward Gulf Breeze.

Anyone with information on the potential identification of the alleged hit-and-run vehicle can call Trooper David R. Baker, 484-5000, or email DavidBaker@flhsmv.gov.
