Dear editor,
As someone who has studied — includes more than just reading it — our Constitution, I would like offer a few insights into our governing document.
First, there is no one in this country that enjoys 100 percent of their liberty, freedom or the ability to pursue their pursuit of happiness. A society that has 100 percent of either of these items is a society of chaos! You do not have the liberty or freedom to kill an innocent person, steal, rob or ignore our laws. A bank robber was in the pursuit of happiness when he was caught with the money!
So our liberties, freedoms and rights in the pursuit of happiness are defined by our laws, and anyone that uses these terms, such as liberty, without this insight — maybe a lack of understanding? — does so in an attempt to circumvent our laws and Constitution.
What our Founding Fathers were saying when they used these same words was "the liberty and freedom to write our own laws allowing us to govern ourselves in the pursuit of happiness as a free and sovereign nation.”
Our immigration laws are in place not only for people to come here legally but to protect our people, our Americans, from those who may bring with them the intentions of harming — also economically — Americans.
Barack Obama has chosen to disengage our immigration laws to bolster the voter base of the progressive liberal left Democrat Party at a cost of American Lives!
Donald Trump wants to reengage (not rewrite) our immigration laws, which do allow a president to halt immigration from any area or people seen as a threat — again, also economically — to the protection and lives of the American people. American lives matter!
