PACE TAX DOLLARS SHOULD BENEFIT PACE
Yeah, this is Don, down here in Pace. On the half-cent sales taxes they want to put in our elections: that's ridiculous. I mean, you say it's for the fire departments and sheriff's departments, courthouses.
We know that money's not going there.
You might say it does, but you use it for other things. Especially fire departments; I know for a fact that these smaller stations — up in Berrydale and Munson and all that — take money from the Pace district, so why should we give them another half-cent? They've already taken from Pace.
I'm tired of our money from Pace going everywhere in the county. Until you decide to give all the money to the Pace fire department, forget y'all.
Y'all vote for the half-cent sales tax if you want. I don't care — but I wouldn't vote for it.
PACE FIRE RESCUE GETS ENOUGH MONEY
This is Larry, and I just read the recent article about Pace Fire District wanting to be an independent fire district, meaning they want to keep all the money they collect for their own fire district.
As a former MSBU (municipal service benefit unit) coordinator, I can honestly tell you right now Pace’s fire district takes in over $1,270,000. Now, as far as I know, when I was the MSBU coordinator, they did not share their money with the other fire districts unless the other fire districts did not collect enough, and then the money could be shared.
I think people should realize the Pace fire district takes in over $1,000,000 and they have the best equipment possible. If they become independent, they would become better than any fire district or city fire district in Pensacola.
Do they really need an increase or independent fire district? I think not. Just think about it.
WHO'S FUNDING THESE SIGNS?
Yes, this is Greg. Just wondering — I've noticed there are many signs around town that are promoting the half-cent sales tax.
Who's paying for that? Just wondering.
