NAVARRE — The Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce's Economic Development and Government Affairs Committee is hosting an "Overview of the Half Penny.”
The event is set for noon Aug. 19 at the Navarre Chamber, 8543 Navarre Parkway, Navarre, Florida 32566.
Ed Carson, with Moving Santa Rosa Forward, will be the guest speaker and he will take questions.
The Aug. 30 primary ballot will include two questions about the half-penny tax that could have an effect on Santa Rosa County residents’ quality of life.
Voters will decide whether to raise the sales tax by one-half penny to pay for road improvements, police and fire equipment, flood control projects, sidewalks, bike paths and parks.
They also will decide whether to raise the sales tax by one-half penny to build a new court house.
