Emergency Management rep. speaks to Kiwanis members

MILTON — Santa Rosa County Emergency Management Plans Chief Daniel Hahn told Sunshine Kiwanis members about the new "Alert Santa Rosa" system.

This phone notification tool is helpful when the public is at risk during events such as natural disasters. Anyone can sign up for the service at http://alertsantarosa.com/.

Hahn also touched on the importance of flood insurance, reminding members that the world is in a flood zone, and homeowners insurance doesn't cover any kind of flood damage.

Hahn said he’s proud to say Santa Rosa County is the first tsunami ready county on the entire five-state Gulf of Mexico region. Hahn is noted for his exemplary work as head of Safer Santa Rosa and the recent 23 projects completed with 700 volunteers.

Sunrise Kiwanis welcomes all to their 7 a.m. Wednesday meetings, with breakfast, at Tanglewood Golf Course.
