PENSACOLA — Someone could be scamming local businesses.
A Better Business Bureau accredited business reported that a man visited its location with a flyer. He said he sought sponsors for a booklet to be given out at a Sept. 17 youth-oriented event to be held at the Pensacola Fairground.
Prices of ‘sponsorship’ ranged from $100 (business card size) to $250 (front cover of the manual). Acceptable forms of payment included cash, checks or money orders.
However, a call to the Pensacola Fairgrounds resulted in learning there is no such event scheduled for that day.
“We are sending this out to our accredited businesses in and around the Pensacola area to let you know in case someone with this same or similar request show up at your business,” a BBB Northwest Florida spokesperson said.
