Peanut Festival, Plein Air Paint Out among things to do

Here are some community events set for Saturday in Santa Rosa County. 

ENJOY PEANUTS AND MORE:   The Jay Peanut Festival is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Gabbert Farm, 3604 Pine Level Church Road. The event will offer a variety of vendors, live music, antique displays, children's activities and contests. Admission and parking are free. Call the Santa Rosa County Extension Office at 623-3868 for more information. 

WATCH HIGH SCHOOL MUSICIANS PERFORM: The Blackwater Classic Marching Band Festival is scheduled for Saturday at the Milton High School Haywood Hanna Panther Stadium, 5445 Stewart St. The event will feature 15 high school marching bands from Northwest Florida and Alabama. Gates open at 2:30 p.m. and the event will end around 10:15 p.m. For more information visit www.miltonhighschoolband.com or call the MHS Band office at 983-5611.

RUN WITH A CHANCE TO WIN: Three participants could claim a $250 prize while running in the Riverwalk Run 5K on Saturday, starting at 5 p.m. Two of the $250 prizes are awarded to the male and female participants who break the event's course record. The men's record is a completion time of 15:46; the women's record is set at 20:12. The third prize is awarded during a bib number drawing, giving each participant a chance to win. GO AHEAD; PAINT OUTDOORS: The Santa Rosa Arts and Culture Foundation Inc. presents the sixth annual Bagdad and Milton Plein Air Paint Out. The event is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Santa Rosa Arts and Culture Foundation, 6815 Caroline St., Milton. Local artists are encouraged to come out and draw, paint and eat. AUDITION FOR A PLAY: The Panhandle Community Theatre will be open for auditions on Saturday and Sunday for its upcoming "Best Christmas Pageant Ever." The PCT seeks four men and six women in their 30s to 60s along with eight boys and nine girls ages 4 to 15. Auditions take place 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at 4646 Woodbine Road. See panhandlecommunitytheatre.com for more information.
