MILTON — The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office has received its fourth re-accreditation, Sheriff Wendell Hall said.

“Accreditation is a highly recognized and desired status for a law enforcement agency,” an SRSO spokesperson stated in a media release. “To receive this status, our agency had to demonstrate compliance with over 500 standards of excellence.”

The reaccreditation includes the SRSO’s Law Enforcement and Detention divisions. The SRSO has maintained accreditation status for law enforcement and corrections since Hall committed to the program in 2004.

“Having an accredited agency means we have developed a framework of policies and procedures, which delivers professionalism in everything we do,” the spokesperson said. “This entire process reduces the Sheriff’s Office’s exposure to liability.

“Accreditation is the gold seal in law enforcement excellence.”
