Santa Rosa deputy nabs man accused of double homicide

GULF BREEZE — A homeless man accused of double homicide is held without bond at the Santa Rosa County jail.

An unknown resident reported a man trespassing on abandoned commercial property near Highway 98 and Nature's Way in Gulf Breeze.

A Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office deputy approached the man, later identified as Paul Eugene Snow, who was sitting near bushes behind the property, according to an SRCSO media release.

Snow said he stopped to change his socks, according to the arrest report. He said he was going to a friend's home in Okaloosa County and had been traveling for a couple days.

Nervous when asked for his identification, Snow produced an Oklahoma ID, according to the release.

A sheriff's office dispatcher said Snow had an active warrant in North Carolina for failure to register as a sex offender; he was known to be armed and extremely dangerous.

The deputy handcuffed Snow without incident, according to the arrest report.

Snow also is a suspect in a North Carolina double homicide, the dispatcher later learned.
