MILTON — Three Alabama men face charges related to a Monday morning home invasion.
A Milton Police officer responded to a call of two suspicious black men leaving a gold minivan in the backyard of the victims' home around 1 a.m., according to the Milton police report. The female victim called and said the minivan left but still asked the officer to investigate.
While the officer was on her way, the female victim called 911 stating two black males with a gun entered the home. The victims locked themselves in the bedroom. By the time the officer arrived, the suspects had left and the male victim was on the porch.
Video footage from two cameras at the home showed Christopher Davon Smith, 23, of Brewton, push through the front door as the male victim was walking inside, according to a Milton Police media release.
Smith allegedly held a handgun to the male victim’s head, according to the report. Tommy Lee Lewis Jr., 21, of Brewton, Ala., then entered in black clothing and a hooded jacket, according to the release, which stated Smith took an orange tackle box and an Eddie Bauer brand bag as Lewis stood at the door before the two left.
A Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office deputy located Smith and Lewis about 20 minutes later walking on Pine Street and took them into custody.
While standing outside, the deputy and officer noticed a gold 2001 Toyota minivan with Alabama tags headed north on Canal Street approaching Pine.
The two found Calvin Darobin Vashun Matthews, 23, of East Brewton driving. Matthews said two black males robbed him and took his book bag while he was going to the store for cigarettes, according to the report. The authorities arrested him, too.
The three men are charged with home invasion with a firearm.
Lewis is out of jail on a $50,000 bond while Smith and Matthews are in Santa Rosa County jail, with the same bond.
