PACE — Haley Kling of Pace High School is heading to Nashville following graduation. She just signed a cross-country and track and field scholarship with Lipscomb University and answered a few questions about the decision.
Why did you sign with Lipscomb University?
“I like the Christian aspect of the school. It’s a very small private school. I really liked the campus and all of the girls on the team seem (like) super nice and well-rounded people. I feel like I can grow a lot as an individual there. The coaches there really care about the athlete and they will work with each girl individually. They seem awesome.”
What have you learned during your four years on Pace’s field and track teams?
“The biggest thing I have learned is perseverance; to always be working hard. I have to run a lot on the weekends by myself and put in a lot extra outside of practice, by working on my core and watching what I eat.”
What do you plan to bring to Lipscomb?
“Just to give it all of my best.”
What kind of degree will you pursue outside sports?
“Exercise Science — my mom does that. It is kind of like physical therapy.”
How will you prepare for the next step?
“This season, I had to quit playing soccer. I quit this season to train. I never trained between cross-country and track; I always played soccer. So right now I am just running and going to the gym doing core every day, and so that will definitely help.”
