Sheriff's Office identifies stabbing suspect, withholds name

MILTON — The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office said they have identified the suspect in a fatal Dec. 16 stabbing in Navarre.

However, the person’s identity will remain undisclosed for now.

Daniel Jebadiah Lee Bubanas, 18, died about 10:45 p.m. following the stabbing in a wooded area near River Birch Road, south of East Bay Boulevard west of Navarre.

The SRSO is reviewing videos and other evidence of the incident. The investigation’s focus has shifted from identification of suspects to circumstances surrounding the use of force.

“Officers know there were many individuals at this incident and we are looking for anyone who may have captured videos of that evening,” an SRSO media release stated. “Anyone with information is asked to contact our Major Crimes Unit at 983-1230.”

Anonymous tipsters can contact the Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers at srccs.com and submit photos or videos through the website.

At the investigation’s conclusion, the State Attorney’s office will review all findings to determine culpability.
