3 things to do this weekend in Northwest Florida

1. EXPLORE THE SPIRITUAL REALM. “An Intimate Evening with International Psychic Medium Ericka Boussarhane” takes place 7 p.m. Saturday at The Imogene Theatre, 6866 Caroline St., Milton. The cost is $20 per person at the door. Boussarhane is an author, radio personality, public speaker and professional psychic medium. This is a gallery-style group reading.

2. LEARN ABOUT POLLUTION. The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension presents, "Microplastics: Tiny pieces causing big problems in our waters." The event is set 10 a.m. Friday at the Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive in Gulf Breeze. Join Chris Verlinde, UF-IFAS Extension Santa Rosa County Sea Grant Extension agent, to learn about the impact associated with microplastics pollution.

3. CELEBRATE THE JAPANESE NEW YEAR. The Japan-America Society of Northwest Florida will usher in the “Year of the Fire Rooster” with its 23rd annual Japanese New Year Celebration. The event is from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Wright Place in Pensacola, 80 E. Wright St. Festivities will include performances by the Matsuriza taiko drummers, martial arts demonstrations, traditional Japanese dancing, music, food vendors and cultural displays. A silent auction will be held, and ticket holders are automatically eligible for door prize drawings. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $6 for students or active-duty military, and $4 for Japan-America Society members. Children 12 and under get free admission. Advance tickets are available from Sake Cafe and Yamato’s, or online at Eventbrite.
