Senior Expo set in Milton

MILTON — The Senior Expo and Health Fair is set 8 a.m. to noon March 16 at the Guy Thompson Community Center.

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program, the city of Milton and Woodmen Life will host the event, with Santa Rosa Medical Center’s support, at 5629 Byrom St., Milton.

Santa Rosa Medical Center staffers will provide free health screenings for blood pressure, body fat analysis, breast self-exam education, non-fasting cholesterol and glucose, chronic pain, diabetes education, grip strength, hearing, peripheral artery disease, pulse oxygen, sinus allergies, skin cancer, sleep, smoking cessation and weight.

Attendees can visit with a variety of local businesses and community organizations such as Shine, which serves senior citizens’ health insurance needs, and Legal Services of North Florida.

The American Red Cross will offer residents free smoke detectors. Emergency Operations Center will hand out information on how to stay safe during disasters. Assisted Living Locators, a free service that assists seniors with elder care options, also will provide information.
