ORLANDO — Santa Rosa County District 4 Commissioner Rob Williamson was elected to the office of second vice president of the Florida Association of Counties executive committee during the association’s annual business meeting in Orange County.
"Building relationships with other county leaders from around the state has helped us bring innovative ideas back home," said Williamson. "Having the privilege of representing Santa Rosa County on the executive leadership team is a truly humbling experience."
As a member of the FAC Executive Committee, Williamson will play a key role in helping to guide the association’s policy and initiatives.
“Through his active participation on policy committees, Commissioner Williamson has distinguished himself as a leader in the association,” said FAC Executive Director Ginger Delegal. “We are excited to have him represent FAC as our second vice president.”
Williamson joins, newly installed FAC president, Hendry County Commissioner Karson Turner; president-elect, Leon County Commissioner Nick Maddox; first vice president, Palm Beach County Mayor Melissa McKinlay; and immediate past president, Charlotte County Commissioner Christopher Constance. The offices of president-elect, first vice president and second vice president are elected annually.
The association is governed by a board of directors comprised of one county commissioner from each state senate district (40); five executive officers; six county commissioners appointed at-large with no more than three of the six from counties with population of 75,000 or more; and the past presidents of the FAC.
Founded in 1929, the Florida Association of Counties has represented the diverse interests of Florida’s counties, emphasizing the importance of protecting home rule – the concept that communities and their local leaders should make the decisions that impact their community. The Florida Association of Counties helps counties effectively serve and represent Floridians by strengthening and preserving county home rule through advocacy, education and collaboration.
