MILTON — Sam Parker, Santa Rosa County commissioner from District 1, recently spoke to the Milton Rotary Club.

Parker spoke about the upcoming budget process, the future of Highway 90 and the courthouse. He also mentioned how proud he and his fellow commissioners were to give sheriff’s deputies a 10 percent pay increase this year, along with keeping the millage rate the same, in an effort to not raise taxes.

Parker also spoke about Santa Rosa County’s growth and the challenges it presents, but he said the county is being proactive in addressing those challenges.

“It was a very informative talk and (there was) some very good Q&A at the end of the presentation,” a Rotary member said.
