MILTON — The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners will discuss these issues, among others, in April:
1. Infrastructure needs and proposed projects the local option sales tax will fund. Voters on Aug. 30, 2016, passed the tax, which will fund projects like public safety facilities and equipment, transportation and drainage improvements, recreation and natural resources, and capital equipment.
The board will host three public meetings — 5-8 p.m. April 3, 11 and 18 — to get feedback on projects. Meetings will take place at the Chumuckla Community Center, 2355 Highway 182 in Jay; Tiger Point Community Center, 1370 Tiger Park Lane in Gulf Breeze; and the Santa Rosa Administrative Center, 6495 Caroline St., Milton, respectively.
2. A request for proposals regarding property for a new judicial center. In March, Commissioner Sam Parker reached an agreement with Edwin Henry to donate up to 15 acres of Pace area property for a future courthouse. Commissioners decided to see what other properties would be available.
3. A resolution supporting realignment of Glover Lane and Highway 90. In March, the Florida Department of Transportation presented options for relieving traffic congestion at the intersection. FDOT's proposals include adding dual turn lanes or adding a connector to the intersection.
4. A request for proposals regarding operator/management services at the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier. The existing contract expires in December.
5. Closure of Stratford Lane at Berryhill Road. Residents in the Crossroads subdivision have requested that the Stratford Lane connection to Berryhill be closed in anticipation of increased cut-through traffic once a Publix supermarket opens. The Stratford Lane connection to Chumuckla Highway would line up with the shopping center’s new entrance.
The commission’s next regular meeting is set 9 a.m. April 10 in the Santa Rosa County Administrative Center Board Room, 6495 Caroline St., Milton.
