Fun new shop in downtown Milton caters to kids

If you have little ones that you like to dress in style but not break the treasure chest, there is a new kid in town.

Mermaids and Mateys Kids Shoppe, at 6815 Caroline St., is proud to call historic Milton its new home.

Clairen Reese is the owner of Mermaids and Mateys Kids Shoppe.

Mermaids and Mateys, according to its owner Clairen Reese, “is a highly organized, eclectic and fun kids shop that is packed with 2,500 square feet of boutique and brand name merchandise.”

Reese said that she offers amazing apparel, shoes, toys, books, gifts, décor, jewelry, formal wear, and more.

“My store is the ultimate shopping adventure for new treasures,” she said. “I also offer a big splash of upscale resale items.”

Mermaids and Mateys Kids Shoppe recently reopened after relocating from Navarre to downtown Milton.

Customer Christy Knight of Baker said that she shopped there on the recommendation of her daughter.

“I found a quaint little shop with all kinds of fun and nice things for my grandbabies,” she said.

Mermaids and Mateys Kids Shoppe is located at 6815 Caroline St. in downtown Milton. The store is open Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Reese relocated her home and business from the Navarre area to Milton. She purchased the Santa Rosa County Dragonfly Gallery in August and has just recently opened.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the downtown community,” Reese said. “Plus, the city of Milton has been a delight to work with.”

Mermaids and Mateys not only offers the latest in trendy merchandise for kids, Reese purchases nearly new merchandise from valued customers, and offers them either a cash buyout or a store credit.

“Customers prefer having this option,” Reese said. “That way everything can be done in a day.”

Despite many businesses suffering and closing from last year’s string of unusual events, resale and consignment are projected to be one of the fastest growing retail segments. Reese said that this multi-billion dollar industry attracts shoppers from all economic levels.

Reese invites locals to stop in Mermaids and Mateys and check out the treasures.

“Come on in and meet the head scallywag proprietor – that’s me!” she said. “Be sure to ask about my VIP Frequent Shopper Reward Program and gift certificates.”

She is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

Whether or not you have children or grandkids to pamper and spoil, this is truly a unique shop worth checking out.
