If it’s a fireworks display you’re after this Fourth of July, your options are more limited than ever before as event organizers are at the continued mercy of COVID-19.
Pensacola’s grandest Independence Day festival of the year is the annual Seville Square Fourth of July celebration, but that was officially canceled by the Sertoma Fourth of July Committee on May 29.
For more than three decades the event in Old Seville boasted the largest fireworks display on the Gulf Coast. That void will be hard to fill this year, but those eager to see Fourth of July fireworks can check them out at the following advertised events scheduled to take place in the coming weeks:
Fourth of July fireworks & movie at Blue Wahoos Stadium
When: Saturday, July 4 from 6:30-10 p.m.
Where: Wahoos Stadium at 351 W. Cedar St.
Details: This ticketed event gets you a viewing of the movie “The Sandlot,” along with what will likely be the biggest fireworks show in Pensacola this year.
General admission tickets are now on sale for $10 and include being able to see the movie. Children under 2 will be admitted free. All other ages will be $10 per-ticket.
Tickets can be purchased at the stadium box office, as well as online through a link on bluewahoos.com.
Be sure to grab your tickets soon, as the organization is capping its attendance a 4,000 guests to adhere to proper social distancing.
Pensacola Beach July 4th fireworks show
When: Saturday, July 4 from 8:30-9:30 p.m.
Where: Pensacola Beach Boardwalk at 400 Quietwater Beach Road
Details: With sugar-white sands under your feet, keep your eyes focused on the night skies this Fourth of July for a dazzling fireworks display along the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk and Santa Rosa Sound.
Arrive early to reserve your spot on the sand.
Southern Raceway fireworks show and motor sport races
When: Saturday, June 27, during racing intermission past 7 p,m.
Where: 9359 Nichols Lake Road in Milton
Details: Since Milton’s largest Fourth of July celebration — the annual downtown Milton Riverfest — was postponed until Sept. 5, Milton residents may have to turn their attention to this event, which is one week before next month’s holiday.
The firework display is advertised to begin at the racing intermission mid-show. General admission tickets are $12, seniors and military members get in for $10, students pay $7, kids age 6-11 pay $5 and kids age 5 and under get in for free.
Fourth of July sunset and fireworks cruise
When: Saturday, July 4 between 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Where: 750 Commendencia St. (Downtown ferry landing)
Details: This cruise option is tied directly to the Wahoos’ fireworks display. So if you’d rather enjoy those fireworks for a different angle, Pensacola Bay Cruises is charging $25 per person on limited seating cruises the night of the Fourth.
Concessions will be available for purchase and the cruise will depart from the downtown ferry landing. No outside alcohol is allowed.
Jay fireworks
When: Friday, July 3 from 8:30 p.m. until 9:15 p.m.
Where: Bray Hendricks Park at 5259 Booker Lane
Details: Pack up a lawn chair and enjoy Fourth of July fireworks a day early in Jay, starting just after sunset at the park.
Hosted by the Jay Area Chamber of Commerce, organizers ask that you observe CDC social distancing guidelines.
Navarre Beach Fourth of July fireworks
When: Saturday, July 4 at 9 p.m.
Where: 8579 Gulf Blvd. in Navarre,
Details: Come on down to the end of the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier for a night of Independence Day fireworks. The pyrotechnic demonstration will be held rain or shine.
Residents and guests are reminded to allow plenty of time to find parking and remember to leave pets at home. For more information, call 850-981-8900.
Flora-Bama Freedom Run and Fireworks
When: Saturday, July 4. The runs start at 8 a.m., the fireworks are at 9 p.m.
Where: 17401 Perdido Key Drive
Details: Feel free to flock to Flora-Bama for 9 p.m. fireworks. But first, if you’re in the mood to sneak some exercise, the world famous beach bar is hosting a pair of rain-or-shine holiday fun runs that morning.
The 8 a.m. four-mile and one-mile runs, as well as the 8:02 a.m. four-mile walk are all completely free to participate in. Visit the Flora-Bama website to learn more about registration and packet pickup.
Registration includes: Race T-shirt (guaranteed to the first 500 registrants), patriotic shades & leis (while supplies last), and food and drink tickets to be redeemed post-race.
All participants will receive a “Participant’s Finisher Medal” once runners cross the finish line. The top 10 male and top 10 female runners will be awarded a $20 Flora-Bama gift card.
A portion of the proceeds raised will go to benefit Operation ReConnect.
