The city of Milton announces a new art contest, Wings over Milton Public Art Contest, an opportunity for area artists to compete for the chance to paint wings, (of any type) on the exterior wall of a downtown Milton building. This painting, when complete, will allow for photographing opportunities for the public in the future.
“I am excited about this project. The contest gives local artists an opportunity to express themselves in a personal way that could reflect well for the community. It will draw numerous people to downtown and bring something special to Milton,” said Milton Councilman Jeff Snow.
Snow originally introduced the idea for the contest to the council and believed it would benefit the city’s atmosphere and culture.
The contest will both award the winner with $500 and cover the cost of the artwork not to exceed $1,000 through a reimbursement. Submissions must be in 8.5-by-11, full-color and in JPEG format.
Applications and guidelines are listed online at www.miltonfl.org. Application packets can also be picked up at Milton City Hall. Participants must be at least 18 years of age to enter. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian to sign the Liability and Publicity Release on their behalf as a condition of entry.
