MILTON — Jada Crosby was crowned Miss Milton High School on April 13, becoming the 31st pageant winner in school history. She was awarded a $500 scholarship.
Crosby represented the school's dance team for the pageant. She said she plans to attend the University of South Florida where she will pursue a degree in sociology and will work with youth services and social work. She said she will miss attending MHS functions and performing with the dance team.
Crosby said she was shocked to be crowned Miss MHS.
"Wow," Crosby said at the time of the crowning. "Just wow."
However, other contestants said they knew she would win.
"(We) told her so," the contestants said of Crosby's crowning.
Kasi Allen, a MHS alumna and former Miss MHS who served as master of ceremonies, said each of the contestants did a wonderful job representing their organizations. She said the judges had a hard time narrowing down the contestants to the final 10 and had an even harder time narrowing down to the final five.
"Congratulations to each of you," Allen said.
MHS Principal Tim Short said he was proud of all the contestants and everyone involved with planning the pageant.
"The fact that it is a scholarship that helps students get off to college is a wonderful thing," Short said.
Crosby will again honored at the MHS Senior Night on May 6.
