Air Kraken on tap in Milton

MILTON — Milton brewery Beardless Brewhaus and Krewe of Airship Pirates celebrated camaraderie Saturday with a beer-naming event in honor of the krewe. The event was marked with a special appearance by the Krewe's mascot float "Air Kraken" as well as food and music provided by the krewe.

Nick Holmes, co-owner of Beardless Brewhaus, said he decided to honor the krewe for its efforts in supporting the community and for bringing Mardi Gras back to Milton by naming a beer after the krewe's mascot ship "Air Kraken."

"It was our way of saying thanks to them," Holmes said. "We are excited to work with them."

Airship Pirates president Patrick Fitzgerald thanked the Brewhaus during the event. He said it was because of their continued support that Milton can continue to move forward.

"Hats off to the Brewhaus," Fitzgerald said. 'You guys are awesome."

Krewe member Cheryl Betts said the "Air Kraken" beer, tastes great.

"Its great for people who might not really like the taste of beer," she said.

She said she felt the honor was such a great thing for the brewery to do for the krewe and she was excited to be a part of the day's event.

"What an honor," she said.

Beardless Brewhaus will partner with Krewe of Airship Pirates again in April for a pet adoption giveaway at the brewery at 6820 Caroline St.
